Rugby Semifinal

The Hall 6 Rugby Team played their quarterfinals match against Hall 9 at noon. Both not enjoy a good start, neither teams were able to hold on to possession of the ball for long period of time. Passes were going astray and neither team was able to gain any headway in their pushes.

Four minutes into the game, a well timed pass from Alex allowed Qing Yao to run pass 2 defenders. Several defenders tried to give chase but none of them were able to catch up to him. One of them literally ‘bit the dust’ in the process, as he fell during the pursuit. The first half ended with Hall 6 in a 5-0 lead.

The team started the 2nd half with more confidence. The players were doing much better at keeping possession of the ball. 3 minutes from the end of the game, Fu Hang was able to pick up a loose ball in the middle of the field. Side stepping the defence, he ran down the left flank, scoring a try. Gerald missed the conversion. 10 – 0 to hall 6. Putting up a strong defence as well saw Hall 9 not passing the 22 metres mark for the rest of the game.

Semi-finals against Hall 2. For the first few minutes, Hall 2 had much of the possession of the ball, even as our team was able to put up a strong defence. 2 minutes into the game, Fu Hang was brought down by a defender in mid-air, while attempting to receive a pass from Paul. The ball was subsequently kicked out of play and Fu Hang was sent to the blood bin with Jian Liang replacing him.

Near the end of the first half, Hall 2 attacked down our right flank, their player evading three tackles, before passing to his comrade who made a straight dash down to the try line. 5-0 to Hall 2. No conversion.

4 minutes into the 2nd half, Hall 2 had scored 2 more tries and one conversion. Although the team tried to reorganize their offensive, it was difficult to break the stone wall of Hall 2 players. The game ended with the score standing at 17-0.
