The Hall 6 Rugby Team played their quarterfinals match against Hall 9 at noon. Both not enjoy a good start, neither teams were able to hold on to possession of the ball for long period of time. Passes were going astray and neither team was able to gain any headway in their pushes.
Four minutes into the game, a well timed pass from Alex allowed Qing Yao to run pass 2 defenders. Several defenders tried to give chase but none of them were able to catch up to him. One of them literally ‘bit the dust’ in the process, as he fell during the pursuit. The first half ended with Hall 6 in a 5-0 lead.
The team started the 2nd half with more confidence. The players were doing much better at keeping possession of the ball. 3 minutes from the end of the game, Fu Hang was able to pick up a loose ball in the middle of the field. Side stepping the defence, he ran down the left flank, scoring a try. Gerald missed the conversion. 10 – 0 to hall 6. Putting up a strong defence as well saw Hall 9 not passing the 22 metres mark for the rest of the game.
Semi-finals against Hall 2. For the first few minutes, Hall 2 had much of the possession of the ball, even as our team was able to put up a strong defence. 2 minutes into the game, Fu Hang was brought down by a defender in mid-air, while attempting to receive a pass from Paul. The ball was subsequently kicked out of play and Fu Hang was sent to the blood bin with Jian Liang replacing him.
Near the end of the first half, Hall 2 attacked down our right flank, their player evading three tackles, before passing to his comrade who made a straight dash down to the try line. 5-0 to Hall 2. No conversion.
4 minutes into the 2nd half, Hall 2 had scored 2 more tries and one conversion. Although the team tried to reorganize their offensive, it was difficult to break the stone wall of Hall 2 players. The game ended with the score standing at 17-0.

| Hall 6 vs Hall 7, 5-0 (Hall 6 wins) |
The Hall 6 rugby teams kicked start their IHG season this morning with a brilliant 36-0 win against Hall 8. The team had few new members in the team this year. However, team moral was high and the Sixers made a 14-0 lead by half-time, courtesy of the valiant attempts by Qing Yao in the 4th and final minutes of the first half, with Gerald and Paul adding 2 points each with the boot.
The rugby players simply dominated in the second half. Shortly after kickoff, Gerald made a fast tackle on the opponent’s scrum half, who was totally caught off-guarded, losing grip of the ball in the process. The ball bounced into the path of Paul, who gladly picked it up and make a straight dash to the try line, with the closest opponent several meters behind him. Shortly after restarting the game, Alex, Fu Hang and Qing Yao were seen making a series of runs down the left side of the field, with Qing Yao scoring 2 tries and Paul making 1 conversion in the process. 31 – 0 to Hall 6. Seconds away from the final whistle, Alex sent Fu Hang down the flank with a pass, scoring the last try of the game.
The second game of the day was against Hall 7. Both teams are evenly matched, with the actions taking place around the 22 meters mark from the try line for much of the first half. Unable to break down the opponent’s strong defense, the 1st half ended with a score line of 0 – 0.
The second half started brightly for the team, with Alex intercepting a pass, before passing the ball to Fu Hang, who made a straight dash to the tryline. However, he was brought down an arm’s length away making a try, with his tackler sent to the blood bin in the process. This was the closest the team got to score a try since the game started.
2 minutes from the end of the game, Weimin pass the ball to Paul on the left flank, kicked the ball forward when he was closed down by 2 defenders, gaining ground in the process. A 5 meter scrum was ordered by the umpire. Gerald makes run for the try line, dragging 2 defenders for a meter before being brought down. That’s how much desire the team wants to win the competition. A 5 meter scrum was ordered again. This time, Gerald runs towards the left side of the field with Alex and Weimin in support. The ball passed to Weimin, who jumped forward, scoring a try. 5 – 0 to Hall 6! Paul’s kick hit the woodwork, failing to make the conversion. With that, the game is brought to a close.
