Volleyball Female (Quarterfinals) - Hall 6 vs Hall 9

Published by Publications Team | Filed under Volleyball (F)

Score: 0 – 2 (Hall 9 wins)

The girls were up early in the morning to train hard for the upcoming match against Hall 9. For them, it was an opportunity not to be missed. Fresh on their minds was the match against Hall 9 last year. This time, they were determined to turn the tables on them. While the players were training, a short interview with one of the managers (Ng Yi Ling) confirmed this and the players were going to give in their very best for this match.

At the sidelines, the supporters also wished the team all the best.

The starting line up for the match consisted of Esther, Vanessa, Ming Lee, Audrey, Hwee Fen and Tay Yi Ling. The starting round saw the players fighting very hard to beat their opponents. The latter was having an initial winning streak, until a time-out was called. From then on, our fellow players managed to break that and show our opponents what they are made of. Still, we were outmatched at the end of the first set with a score of 14:25.After a short break interval, the players were back with more fire to burn their opponents with. It was evident in their play as they were valiantly pushing themselves to do their very best. Despite their best efforts, the second set ended with a score of 17:25.

The outcome was sombre as our dear players were reflecting on what could they have done better at the end of the match. Some were heavily disappointed.

To the volleyball girls, we are proud of you all, for you have done your very best. “Failure is the mother of all success.” Be strong. Continue to work hard. We will be there for you, all the way to the end.

Volleyball Female (Grp Preliminary) - Hall 6 vs Hall 14

Published by Publications Team | Filed under Volleyball (F)

Score: 2 - 0 (Hall 6 Wins)

It was an important match for the Volleyball girls, as winning would secure us a Quarterfinals position.

Our girls bagged the first set by a great margin of 25-8. Aiming for a secure victory, the more experienced players were put on the court. With good ball control, the Sixers were able to set up their offensive well. Capitalising on Team 14’s initial poor coordination and passing at the same time certainly raised the Team’s confidence for today’s win.
As the game proceeded, Team 14 got into the game and proceeded to pressure the Hall Six defence, chasing us point by point in the second set.

Soon, both teams were tied at 21-21, with 4 more points to go. Anyone on the court was bound to be gripped by a familiar fluttering sensation - nervousness. Any mistake made at that point of time will cause either side dearly. A time out was called, and Ming Lee who assured and organized her team for the defence.
In this scenarios, it is the more focused team who usually follows through, and being on the court with more trainings and experience, our Hall 6 girls did not disappoint. They brought home the second set at 25-21.

A closely contested second set. Good play by Team 14, and well done to Hall 6 Girls. With today’s win, we proceed to the Quarterfinals, held next Monday, 22th of Dec.
