Published by Publications Team | Filed under Volleyball (M)

Score: 1-2 (Hall 6 loss)

Both teams evenly contested the first set. Both teams have held leads of no more than three points; at one moment the score was 15-15. In a set that saw both teams play their hearts out, our team managed to edge their opponents out 25 points to 22.

Hall 16 started the second set strongly and established a six-point lead. The score was 1-7 early in the set. Although our team tried thier best to turn the tables, Hall 16 stood firm and eventually took the set by 25 points to 12.

The deciding set saw Hall 16 start out strongly once again and hijacking the score board with a led 9 points to 2. Never once did our players give up; valiantly they fought for every point. However, we failed to cut their lead and finally lost the set 19 points to 25.

Even though we would have liked to progress further, a quarterfinal finish was a commendable effort and the team will take only positives out of this competition and strive for better next year.

Volleyball Male (Grp Preliminary) - Hall 6 vs Hall 12

Published by Publications Team | Filed under Volleyball (M)

It was the opening match for hall 6 volleyball guys. It was the first chance for them to flaunt the fruit of their hard work over the past few months of gruesome training. The court was colored a vibrant shade of green with hall 6 supporters cheering our volleyball players from the side. Players were filled with enthusiasm, really to take on the challenge from hall 12.

The first match saw hall 6 trailing behind as hall 12 consist of many experienced players. Hence, hall 12 took the first set with 25-20, albeit with much difficulty facing our determined hall 6 players.

The second set saw neither side having a clear lead. Tension was high as the score was very close. Hall 6 took the lead with 23-21, where hall 12 called for a time out to reorganize their team and to break the tempo of hall 6’s scoring streak. However, the game resumed and ended with hall 6 taking the second set 25-23.

The third set started and both sides were tense as this is the deciding match. Hall 6 players had by now gotten used to the playing style of hall 12 and controlled the game comfortably. At a point, hall 6 was leading by 18-13. However as victory draws close, anxiety causes some players to lose their cool and hall 12 managed to score 3 points in a row. Our hall 6 players regained their composure and eventually took the set with 25-18, sealing the victory to the opening game. Well done and congrats to our hall 6 players!
